Microsoft Office 2010 is the latest version of the Microsoft Office suite. Microsoft Office allows users to create documents, spreadsheets, presentations and other projects. The new Office 2010 comes in three editions: Office Home and Student, Office Home and Business, and Office Professional.
Office Home and Student is the most basic version and is not intended for commercial, business, government or nonprofit use. It is also the cheapest. For $119.99 (1 user, 1 PC) or $149.99 (1 user, 3 PCs), you get four applications: Word, Excel, PowerPoint and OneNote.
Office Home and Business is available for $199.99 (1 user, 1 PC) or $279.99 (1 user, 2 PCs). In addition to Word, Excel, PowerPoint and OneNote, you also get Outlook 2010. Office Professional 2010 is the ultimate productivity suite, and the most expensive. For $349.99 (1 user, 1 PC) or $499.99 (1 user, 2 PCs), you get Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, Outlook, Access and Publisher.
Many companies offer a trial version of their proprietary products to entice customers, and Microsoft is no different. You can take Office 2010 for a spin with the 60-day free trial on the Office website. Beyond the trial period, users will need a unique Microsoft Office 2010 key to activate the product.
A Microsoft Office 2010 product key is not the product ID. A product ID identifies your Office copy and makes it easier for customer support to assist you. It is found in the “Help” menu in all Office applications. On the other hand, a product key serves as authentication and license for your retail copy of Office.
The Microsoft Office 2010 key is the key to the kingdom. It’s impossible to continue using the trial version or any legitimate version of Office 2010 without the product key. The key is usually a string of unique 25 alphanumeric characters that you enter need in a window prompt to activate the product.
Microsoft Office 2010 Key – Where to Find the Product Key
It’s not uncommon to lose a product key (or accidentally destroy a CD key label). You can recover your Microsoft Office 2010 key from the system registry by using key recovery programs like ProduKey and RockXP. Download and run the program, and select the software from the list displayed. Look for the details next to Microsoft Office. Copy the key shown, save and keep in a safe place for future reference. That’s it!
If all else fails, you have the option of contacting Microsoft customer support for help. Just in case, be ready with your Office 2010 product ID. To get it, launch an Office application like Word. Go to “File” and then click “Help.” On the right side of the page under Microsoft Customer Services and Support, you’ll see the product ID.
Note that if Office 2010 was pre-installed on a new computer as an OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) version, Microsoft customer support will not be able to help with a product key replacement. You need to contact the supplier or the store where you purchased your computer and ask them for the replacement key or a new Microsoft Office 2010 key.
